With the weather (hopefully) improving, you may be considering getting your class out and about to experience some of Perth’s best excursion destinations. With Transperth services in close proximity, we can get you there safely, efficiently and significantly cheaper than other transport options.
After years of potentially being chauffeured from home to school, and to out-of-school activities, it can come as a shock to many students (and parents!) when the time comes to start travelling to school independently. Although this can be an exciting time, students are exposed to risks and challenges they may not have considered before.

Thousands of kilometres of rail have been laid around WA. Although some lines are no longer operational, they are far from being forgotten with many being turned into walk trails around Perth and surrounds. WA has a great collection of these trails and we’ve tracked down some of the more interesting ones, perfect for an enjoyable solo or group outing.

We recently launched a safety campaign targeted at school children in the high-risk age group of 12–14. Our objective was to encourage students to behave safely around buses, and provide a conversation starter for parents and kids.
It might be trumped by our buses and trains in patronage terms, but the humble ferry has a long history in WA.

The Department of Transport’s Your Move program recently launched in the City of Stirling, encouraging residents to leave the car at home and consider walking, riding or taking public transport. With ever increasing congestion, this flows onto our schools with the morning and afternoon drop-offs and pick-ups.
With the final term now underway, you may be considering getting your class out and about– either for an excursion or end-of-year celebration. Have you considered Transperth as a sustainable, cost-effective way to get there?

There are several ways you can add value to a SmartRider. Most students choose to add value through their bus driver or at a Transperth Retail Sales Outlet. While these are the most straight forward methods, it’s not always easy for parents to find a cash note when they need it.
We know the majority of students travelling on the network do the right thing. Some may need a little reminder of what is required to make everyone’s journey safer and more enjoyable.

While getting around on the network may seem simple for most of us, bear a thought for people with a vision impairment, who can find navigating the network is not so straight forward.

As students make their way across the Transperth network, they may not appreciate the planning efforts that have gone into it, or what is currently underway to ensure we deliver sustainable transport solutions for the future.

Earlier this year we launched our new Transperth app and the update has lots of handy features that are proving invaluable to parents and high school-aged kids, including live bus tracking.

Transperth carries thousands of students to and from school every day. Although we have staff on our network and security systems in place to keep everyone safe, we occasionally have some students taking risks that jeopardise their own, and other students' safety.

The annual RAC bstreetsmart event was a success once again with over 7,500 students attending. RAC bstreetsmart has been held in Perth since 2012, educating students on the risks of inattention and driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Transperth Education have just released the first of a series of new activities to help you deliver fun and engaging lessons with WA curriculum links and all the resources you need all with a local twist.
Transperth Education recently attended Perth College to work with the students on timetables and journey planning options.
