Teachers across Perth are gearing up for exciting school excursions, and with Transperth’s Group Travel, these journeys are easier than ever! To help you make the most of your experience, here are some handy tips to ensure a smooth trip for you and your students.
Before Your excursion: Preparation is key to a successful school trip. Be sure to download the Transperth App and familiarise yourself with your route, especially if transfers are involved. Sharing clear travel plans with your students—including designated meeting points, safety protocols and behaviour expectations—will help ensure everyone stays on the same page.
To stay connected with other teachers on the excursion, create a WhatsApp group to share live updates, coordinate movements, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise. Don’t forget to inform your school’s administration team of your travel plans.
On the day of: On the morning of your trip, check the Transperth App or website for any service disruptions. For added support, pair an experienced staff member with a less familiar one to guide the group. Arriving at your station or bus stop at least five minutes early gives you a buffer for unexpected delays, ensuring a calm and organised start. Make sure to double-check your platform numbers or bus stop locations (check the five digit bus stop number) upon arrival. If using a train, keep an eye on the app for any last-minute platform changes.
During the journey At bus stops, the QR code will give you real-time updates on arrival times, alleviating any concerns about delays. The Live Bus Tracking feature in the Transperth App can help you monitor your bus’s location and stay on top of the schedule. Remember, bus routes are subject to road conditions on the day and can be delayed.
If your itinerary includes a train-to-bus connection, consider sending an adult ahead of the group on arrival at the station. This allows them to inform the bus driver that your group is on its way, helping to ensure you don’t miss your connection.
After the excursion: Once your journey is complete, gathering feedback from your students and fellow teachers is a great way to improve future trips. We encourage you to share this feedback via the Transperth feedback form, which will be sent to you after your excursion, as it helps us refine our processes and improve services for everyone.
"We’re committed to providing a smooth, stress-free journey for all our passengers," says a Transperth spokesperson.
