Passengers on Transperth services will soon notice a new campaign encouraging thoughtful travel habits. "Manners in Motion" – being rolled out across the network - aims to foster a more considerate public transport experience and highlights small but impactful behaviours that can make a big difference to fellow commuters, such as keeping backpack use in check, lowering noise levels and standing for adults.
With public transport use surpassing pre-COVID levels, reports of inconsiderate behaviour have increased, prompting Transperth to take a fresh approach to behavioural messaging. Instead of enforcing rules with authority, "Manners in Motion" taps into empathy, encouraging passengers to be mindful of those around them.
"Public transport is a shared space, and a little courtesy goes a long way," said a Transperth spokesperson.
"This campaign isn’t about telling people what to do — it’s about inspiring passengers to make small, considerate choices that improve the journey for everyone."
Students will see these messages around the network during their daily commute, and Transperth is encouraging schools to help spread the word. Schools interested in promoting the campaign can contact education@pta.wa.gov.au to access resources and help reinforce these important messages because, let’s face it, good manners are always appreciated!
