11 - 17 August marks the 20th anniversary of Rail Safety Week, a national initiative led by the TrackSAFE Foundation to raise awareness about safe behaviour around trains and tracks.
This year’s theme, “Stay Off the Tracks – Stay on the Right Track,” encourages students to think critically about their choices around rail environments.
“Over 30,000 young people rely on access to Transperth services each and every school day to get to where they need to go, from school to work or just to hang out. Unfortunately, the risks of being around trains are downplayed, ignored or not truly understood,” says David McMahon, PTA’s Right Track program facilitator.
“Couple this with peer pressure and distraction, it often leads to unnecessary exposure to risk and potential life changing consequences for young people.”
With your support, we can help them understand the real risks and empower them to make safer decisions.
