The PTA’s Right Track program has a long-running relationship with Sevenoaks Senior College in Cannington, because of its proximity to the rail network and the diverse make-up of its students.
Each year, Sevenoaks Senior College holds a Wellbeing Week in June to promote awareness of physical and mental health among the student population.
To support this year’s initiative, the Right Track team (David McMahon and Sibela Inajetovic), with transit officers (Kate Chaplyn and Joel Norris), ran an event at the college to encourage engagement and awareness of our services, and promote practical strategies to address health and wellbeing.
The pop-up stall actively encouraged student interaction with a Survivor Puzzle Challenge, pitting students against the TOs to identify various dangers on a platform.
Students gathered in large groups to witness this activity, further spreading the Right Track message:
Event coordinator Michelle Davey said they were excited to have the PTA back again.
“For the past two years we have had the pleasure of having Right Track and a couple of transit officers attend our Services Expo during the college’s Wellbeing Week, so we were really excited to have them back this year.
“They managed to go even bigger and better with a puzzle that students had to complete while competing against others. They identified risky behaviours and showed the serious consequences of taking risks.
“The competitiveness and level of engagement saw students that were initially concerned at seeing transit officers at the school, laughing and having a great time.”
She praised the Right Track staff and innovative program.
“Students commented that the pop-up stall was fun, the staff were cheerful, and they taught facts on the law. Their games were hilarious, and they had prizes too.”
