In a move that’s bringing history, nature, and learning closer to the classroom, Transperth Education has teamed up with Whiteman Park Education and the Bus Preservation Society of WA to deliver an exciting new way for students to access educational excursions - with ease, affordability, and a touch of vintage charm.
Under this unique collaboration, schools can now use the Transperth Group Ticket to transport classes on any timetabled Transperth bus, train or ferry service to Whiteman Park Station. Better still, students travel free, while teachers pay just $5.20, making it one of the most accessible excursion options in the Perth metro area.
Upon arrival at Whiteman Park Station, participating classes will be met by members of the Bus Preservation Society of WA, who will transport students in restored vintage buses into the heart of Whiteman Park – linking the station to the renowned facilities and educational offerings of Whiteman Park for the first time!
“The long established Transperth Group Ticket has been an amazing opportunity for classes, offering affordable transportation options for excursions. However, with the opening of Whiteman Park Station as part of the Ellenbrook Line, classes were left facing a 2km walk to access the amazing park facilities. This collaboration with the Bus Preservation society and Whiteman Park Education means students now have a viable option to get to and from this amazing educational facility and experience Perth’s transportation history first hand!” says Transperth Education Officer Sibela Inajetovic.
For a total of $10 per student, it’s a low-cost, high-impact option that blends transport education, local history, and environmental learning.
“We’re thrilled to be working alongside these organisations to give students a memorable and educational day out. From riding heritage buses to exploring conservation initiatives — it’s hands-on learning in the best sense.”
Whether you’re teaching history, sustainability, or just want to inspire a sense of curiosity outside the classroom, getting your students to Whiteman Park has never been easier - or more fun.
