Transperth Education is thrilled to have supported the launch of the Active Travel to School Roadmap as part of the Your Move program.
Your Move is an initiative developed by the Department of Transport to reduce traffic congestion and promote community health and wellbeing. Your Move promotes walking, cycling, and public transport in favour of driving to work or school. The Department of Transport’s Active Travel to School Roadmap has been created in response a DOT report which highlighted the declining rate of walking and cycling to school in Perth. Launched formally by the Minister of Transport, Rita Saffioti, the roadmap contains a set of initiatives to tackle the perceived barriers to active travel, as outlined by the DOT report.
Transperth Education attended to showcase the benefits of our Group Ticketing program, providing customised travel plans for students and accompanying staff for school excursions. Group travel is a cost-effective method of active travel, using Transperth’s buses, trains, and ferries to get classes to their destinations for only $1.40 per student.
Schools can sign up to participate in the Your Move program. They will be provided with classroom lesson plans mapped to the WA curriculum, which include event days and activity ideas to help get students active. Points can be acquired by sharing feedback and activities online, which are redeemable for rewards including merchandise and education sessions.
