A year in group travel: School excursions made easy!

Author: Alex Gerrard

As we approach the end of another fantastic year, it’s time to reflect on the highlights from our group travel adventures. So far in 2024, we’ve celebrated more than 650 school bookings and have made in excess of 1000 excursion trips more accessible than ever!

Even better, it's free for students and just $5.20 for accompanying adults, granting you a whole day of affordable travel fun. Our most popular station destinations this year included the vibrant Elizabeth Quay and Perth Station, with many schools heading to the city, while Fremantle Station remained a top choice for coastal explorations.

The standout destinations for excursions included the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) and the WA Museum, with Parliament House and Fremantle emerging as fan favourites. No stone was left unturned, with excursions also exploring popular spots like Optus Stadium, Kings Park, Perth Mint, Cottesloe Beach, Scitech, Perth Zoo, and the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. Additional highlights included visits to TAFEs, universities, the Constable Care Safety School, His Majesty’s Theatre, and the Heath Ledger Theatre. Adventure World and many other attractions rounded out an impressive list of exciting options for schools.

Notably, many of our schools hail from the southern suburbs like Mandurah, Warnbro, Baldivis and Rockingham, and even some regional schools like those from Kalgoorlie, Bunbury and Australind choose to travel on public transport while visiting Perth. The northern suburbs aren’t far behind, with Alkimos, Butler and Yanchep making a strong showing too.

When asked why they chose group ticketing, 80 per cent of teachers cited convenience, and a whopping 98 per cent were satisfied with their travel experience.

As one teacher put it, "Transperth staff were incredibly helpful, supportive and friendly. They made the journey so much easier!"

Another teacher said, “Wonderful experience from start to finish. Staff and students felt well supported and made the whole journey enjoyable. Thank you!”

A big shoutout to our frequent fliers this year: St Stephen’s School, Mandurah Baptist College, Bob Hawke College, Coodanup College and John Tonkin College! With such positive feedback, we encourage all schools to hop on board for your next adventure.
