How can I help my child make this transition?

Is your child going to be travelling independently? It's an important time and we know thoughtful and practical guidance is needed.

Plan Your Journey

The first step to ensure a smooth and safe trip to school is to plan your journey. There are a number of ways to do this.

Use our online JourneyPlanner

Our JourneyPlanner is a convenient online tool designed to help you plan ahead. Simply visit the Transperth website at transperth.wa.gov.au.

Simply enter your starting point, and where you need to go and the JourneyPlanner will suggest the best route for you. It will also provide you with detailed directions, distances, fare information, a map and any service disruptions you need to be aware of.

Remember to change the date in JourneyPlanner to a school day.

If you are planning a journey for the first day of a new school year ou should plan your journey no more than two weeks out.

Did you know, once you have planned your journey you can tweak the proposed journey by using the advanced options?

Download the Transperth App

The official Transperth app is available for download on iOS and Android devices.

With the app you will be able to:

  • Find the next services from any stop, station or jetty
  • Plan your journey and view it on a map
  • ‘Watch’ your journey so you can countdown to when your service arrives
  • Save your favourite journeys for quick access to timetable information
  • View disruption and fare information
  • Get your SmartRider balance.

CHECK OUT the BUS ROUTES SERVICING YOUR SCHOOL

Some schools have multiple bus routes that can take your children to school. To find out which bus routes go to your child’s school, and to download a timetable visit the Transperth website. (Remember to change the date to a school day.)

Bus services are always being reviewed and updated to ensure that they are being used in the best way to meet demand. So remember to check your bus services two weeks out from the start of the new term.
